Sara Impey has been making quilts for most of her adult life but it wasn’t until she introduced text to her quilts that she really found her voice. One of her earliest text quilts won First Prize in Quilt 2006 at the Festival of Quilts. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in several museum collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Quilters’ Guild Collection and the International Quilt Museum in the USA. Sara has been a member of the international exhibiting group QuiltArt for 25 years and exhibits by invitation with the artists’ collective Blackwater Polytechnic.
This book, published for her solo exhibition at the Festival of Quilts 2025, covers her mature work. It contains the full text of some of her quilts and her account of what went into the making of her most important pieces.
